You may have discovered, like I have, that at the top of progress it is a plateau. As we reach there, it is no longer who is ahead, behind, good, or bad. We can assume that we are all professionals with a drive for good design and a desire to make things better. Yet, titles, naming, intention and good ol human nature confuse things. Our industry is not good at being consistent, after all we are creatives. But as a result, creative direction, art direction, designer, brand, strategy, brand strategy, creative strategy, creative... means different things to different people, industries, experts, and thought leaders. Clarity is in some books, contrast is in others--and man, it just gets exhausting

Don’t get me wrong, I love the discussion, debate, and learning around the demands and progress of our industry. Design is awesome. But there is a time for discussion, and there is a time for work.
